by Julian Spivey We perused through all of the new movies and shows coming to the major streaming services this month so you wouldn’t have to … after doing so these are the five new streaming options of November, we recommend the most. Seth Meyers: Lobby Baby – Netflix – Premieres: November 5 Comedian and late night talk show host Seth Meyers sees his first stand-up comedy special for Netflix premiering on Tuesday, Nov. 5. The special titled ‘Lobby Baby’ will no doubt tell the story of how his wife, Alexi, gave birth to their second child in the lobby of their apartment building. Meyers hilariously told the story first on his NBC show “Late Night with Seth Meyers” in 2018. Meyers is one of the smartest and wittiest comedians in the business and it’s about time he joined the bigtime special game. The Crown: Season 3 – Netflix – Premieres: November 17 After a year on hiatus the Emmy-winning Netflix drama “The Crown” begins its third season on Sunday, Nov. 17 with the continued relationship and story of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip. However, the series will in some ways look new with Oscar-winner Olivia Colman taking the role of the Queen over from Claire Foy, who won an Emmy for her performance. Tobias Menzies will replace Matt Smith as Prince Philip and Helena Bonham Carter will replace Vanessa Kirby as Princess Margaret. Despite the cast changes with the character’s aging it should be the same entertaining series. Booksmart – Hulu – Premieres: November 18 “Booksmart,” one of the most critically-acclaimed films of 2019, will premiere on Hulu on Monday, Nov. 18. The film, actress Olivia Wilde’s directorial debut, is the coming-of-age comedy story of two graduating high school girls, played by Beanie Feldstein and Kaitlyn Dever, who set out to party on their final day of class. Famed Chicago Sun-Times critic Richard Roeper called the film, “a refreshingly original take on the raunchy coming-of-age comedy.” The Irishman – Netflix – Premieres: November 27 “The Irishman” is the biggest Netflix original to date directed by the legendary auteur Martin Scorsese and starring Oscar-winners Robert De Niro and Al Pacino, in only their second film together (and Pacino’s first with Scorsese). The more than three hour epic stars De Niro as mob hitman Frank Sheeran and the role he played in the disappearance of labor leader Jimmy Hoffa, played by Pacino. The real-life Sheeran claimed to have been the one to murder Hoffa, who’s body has never been found, late in his life. “The Irishman” is expected to be one of the major contenders at the 2020 Oscars and could be the Best Picture favorite, despite the fact that many will be seeing it on a streaming service, debuting Wednesday, Nov. 27, instead of on a big screen. The Report – Amazon Prime – Premieres: November 29 While Netflix is banking on many eyes seeing “The Irishman” at the end of this month, Amazon Prime is premiering one of its major film releases just two days later as director Scott Z. Burns’ “The Report” makes its debut on the streaming service just two weeks after a theatrical release. The film tells the story of Senate Intelligence Committee staffer Daniel J. Jones, played by Oscar-nominated actor Adam Driver, and the investigation of the CIA’s use of torture following the 9/11 attacks. The film co-stars four-time Oscar-nominated Annette Bening, as well as Emmy-winner Jon Hamm.
